Meet Your Provider

Irene Borysewicz, APRN

I am a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner in the state of Connecticut with a focus on psychiatry and full prescriptive authority. I have five years of experience in treating adults and the elderly in a skilled nursing facility setting for mood disorders, psychotic disorders, and psychiatric symptoms associated with dementia. I also have strong experience in working with adults with developmental/intellectual disabilities.

I have had loved ones struggling with mental health conditions which is what got me to love psychiatry, but it also puts me in a position to truly understand and empathize with what you are going through.

I have personal experience with domestic violence, and I believe that surviving it is an achievement to be proud of and not a part of your life to hide or be ashamed of. I can relate to the pain and fear that occurs behind closed doors. Escaping and recovering from domestic violence is a battle I will always join to help you win it.

I have a rather informal and friendly approach which has consistently promoted close, trusting, and therapeutic relationships with my clients. At Peace of Mind CT, you are not an illness to treat or just another visit. Each client is someone I truly care for. Your well-being, your challenges, and your emotional pain become my goal to fight and overcome.

I tend to go above and beyond and challenge the information provided to me for accuracy. If you are seen for the first time and have established psychiatric diagnoses and treatment, I will work with you to confirm that you have been diagnosed accurately and that you are under the appropriate pharmacologic treatment.

I believe that medications are not always the answer to our problems and that oftentimes times we, as providers, are quick to prescribe a medication due to various reasons. I believe that unless your symptoms are apparent on your very first visit, initiating treatment without forming a clear impression of what you are experiencing is a disservice to you. We will therefore work together to explore any underlying causes for your symptoms and work as a team to solve them and build coping skills and resilience. Regardless of the extent of help and support you need, I will always encourage you to be in the driver's seat while you allow me to safely and effectively navigate you through the journey of healing.
